"How to Read Numerical Digits? and Quiz"

Hello everyone!

Today's post is about how to read the numerical digits which are different from English. In Thai, there are words to call each digit.

Let's dive in.

หลัก /làk/ means a name to call the digit which can be omitted

หลักหน่วย /làk·nùaj/ means the smallest-one digit

หลักสิบ /làk·sìp/ means ten

หลักร้อย /làk·rɔ́ɔj/ means hundred

หลักพัน /làk·phān/ means thousand

หลักหมื่น /làk·mɨ̀in/ means ten-thousand

หลักแสน /làk·sɛ̌ɛn/ means hundred-thousand

หลักล้าน /làk·láan/ means million

In brief, you can memorize the digit from the smallest digit to the bigger digit. You can remember "หน่วย /nùaj/,สิบ /sìp/, ร้อย /rɔ́ɔj/,พัน /phān/, หมื่น /mɨ̀in/,แสน /sɛ̌ɛn/, ล้าน /láan/".
